Dina Naath Well

Design Summit Lahore

‘Jugaar protest’ is a kinetic and sonic sculptural installation assembled with metal and disposable plastic utensils. This site specific project at Dina Nath well, a historically empty well in Delhi Gate Lahore, is a conversation about increasing food and water insecurity in the country. Rhythmic banging produced by these empty utensils is an act of protest, which is a traditional method of creating disruption. It synchronizes with the sounds of the food market, hence activating the public space by using local language and materiality. Such voiceless protest is a performative disruption and a node to the resistance against inflation and censorship.
